Fuel added, Oil levels checked, I even painted the stern handrail supports because they were rusting. We are out on Thursay & the "cunning plan" has already been submitted (with a 40+ft tide we don't have much option lol) I might try a Graeme Pullen "Totally Awesome" plaice trace with plastic silver spoons, give it a chance & see just how "Awesome" they are, I doubt it will out fish my black & yellow "Tiger Trace" lol

To: Injector Removal Service Wales Would you be interested in putting a new sump gasket on a 3 cylinder Lister diesel (& maybe a crankshaft oil seal if it is found to be leaking)? The engine would be removed, delivered, & picked up from your unit, and re-installed.
Reply from Injector Removal Service Wales YES
Victor Lilygreen: OK I will inform the committee you are prepared to do the job (they might decide to get a reconditioned engine) but if they don't we will need somebody to do the technical work. We have the marina crane to lift it out plenty og bodies to get it loose but nobody wants to do the job in case it leaks again.
I will let you know what they decide, its only a little engine 3cyl 29hp

We have a full boat for Thursday so get prepared! We are fishing a full ebb tide of over 40ft so there will be a good run even in the moorings. We SHOULD pick up a few plaice & dabs & who knows what else? Best attractor for plaice & dabs I have found is a running leger with lots of black & floursescent yellow beads, & lug or rag fished on a 1/0 or size 1 hook , don't be frightened to let the trace move, casting across the tide & letting it move around is a sure fire method of getting takes. I dont REALLY mind if you out fish the skipper (but it takes some doing) lol

Mumbles Belle Fishing Trip. Thursday 2 July 2020. Skipper Vic Lilygreen
It was "narley" over the Cherry Stones & furter down towards Langland, & Belle doesn't do "narley" so it was the Bay for us, much to my dislike. We tried drifting for plaice first off but caught only growlers so I gave them the choice of fishing the Strombus or the moorings & they chose the moorings, which was a bad choice & they grumbled so I gave them the option & they chose the Strombus. When we reeled in I had a very niice plaice on the end so they changed their mind again lol.
We ended up with 1 plaice, 5 dabs umpteen dogs hounds, tope gurnard & that was it, not much of a day but at last I outfished the crew na na na nan na!

The forecast is ok. But a couple have said the waves are a bit big over the Cherry Stones & down at Langland Bay, so all we can do is take a look in the morning, & if it is too bad, we get our heads down for a few hours in Mumbles until the flood starts. Nor really one of my "cunning plans" but we can only take what we are given, with the boat we have, I don't mind having a couple of hours sleeping in the moorings. lol Skipper Vic

Mumbles Belle Fishing Trip.Thursday 2 July 2020.Skipper Vic Lilygreen Not much of a day. We didn't have much of a day weatherwise or fishingwise on Thursday, we had quite a few spells of "rock & rolling" when the wind changed direction & gusted, but nothing too bad. We probably wouldn't have noticed if the fishing had been good, but personally I had only dogfish & lunatic fish. Peter fared better having both dogs & lunatics, plus a good size thornback, plus 3 or 4 nice dabs & a nice plaice (plus he missed a big plaice because he never used the net, & we watched it swim away) Well he has been told, & I put the net next to him, lesson learned I hope lol. We had some rollers coming home but they were behind & helped us along, unfortunately my battery in the car was flat? Luckily Allan Walters came in at the same time & gave me a lift home & took me down with a charged battery this morning. The inconvenience of only 2 on board is not the only inconvenience we have to suffer! Vic

Mumbles Belle Fishing Trip. Wednesday 17 June 2020 Skipper Vic Lilygreen "Lunatic Fish" probably about 8, growlers untold numbers, Good Dabs 1 Plaice 5 (2 barely size returned) 1 bream (barely size returned) apart from that it was beautiful weather.Every time Peter put his leggings on the rain stopped. I took brown bread & salted butter to make mackerel fillet sandwches, unfortunately Allan & Richie FAILED MISERABLY TO GET ANY MACKEREL. Once again it was up to Mein Host to catch all the good fish, these boys must master the way to make the traces & the colour & sequence of beads is an art form they have to learn lol lol lol. Took her out of the water today for maintenance. Thanks for your help Roger, and thank you Vic and Nigel for your support. The marina staff are excellent John, when it came out they pressure washed the hull, it was very clean antifoul and polish replace the annodes and it will be like new. Look out bass. Allan Walters

Darren James Nash: It's not as if you'r a fully manned charter boat charging the full amount. Hide or report this
Janet Hurst: Such a shame Victor the members seem to forget that they own the boats and can help by doing some maintenance.
Victor Lilygreen: It's not so much the maintenance as the general running of the boat, taking the wheel, working the VHF, lifting & setting the anchor, understanding how to use the chartplotters, fish finder, being confident in using the ropes in the locks etc. so I can relax a bit.
