We sorted out the problem of the bilge pump (well Mainly Allan did lol) that is now working ok. We also emptied the water from the front davit space & from the anchor locker, & I checked the battery terminals for corrosion, all is fine. All we need now is some fine weather to get amoung the fish, look out Allan Walters remember the "Hare & the Tortoise". Vic Lilygreen.
Only partly fixed the problem! The pump now works when in manual mode, but wont work in remote mode? Without my licence I cant go back & forward after heavy rain to pump out, so it falls on Allan Walters again. The problem appears to be somewhere in the cable between the pump & the switch, next fine day we have we will run a temporary wire between the remote cable on the new pump to the remote switch on the dashboard to see if that is where the problem lies. All smoke & mirrors this bloody elektrikery!!!!!! Vic lilygreen.
Mumbles Belle does not like being neglected! Allan told me that there was 4" of water in the bow of the boat, & added to the 12" of bilge that was about 16" so I checked the auto bilge pumps while he bailed the water with a bucket. He eventually got all the water out of the forward bilge but we had no way of checking the pump on site so he removed it & I took it home to check it. I couldn't see if it was the switch that was kaput, or the pump itself, but testing at home showed that although the impeller was free it wouldn't turn when powered up, whereas my old spare pump worked. So its a new forward bilge pump I'm afraid, luckily there are 2 compartments in the bilge & the stern compartment where the the alternator & starter motor are stayed dry with its bilge pump working fine. Also the wind has blown away (or somebody has nicked) a jerrycan that I use to get fuel, if anybody has picked it up floating in the marina its ours lol. Vic Lilygreen.
