Because Mumbles Bell is vastly different to Oystercat, then the possibility of a trip being called off because of inclement weather, is much greater on Belle than it is on the cat. Therefore I have proposed that instead of nominating a particular day, well in advance, only to find that on that particular day the weather is bad & the trip has to called off, we have nominated "choice days", when we select the best day according to the weather forecast, & that will be the trip day.
Let us say that I nominate Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday as potential trip days (chosen because they are they best tides to allow us to go as far as we can sensibly go) It could well be that Monday & Tuesday are poor, Wednesday is improving, & Thursday is suitable, then the "trip day" will be Thursday. The only problem I see with this will be bait (especially worm) My only contribution to this, is that Swansea Tackle & Bait are open early in the morning, & we can delay lock out until bait is collected, I am sure we can solve this problem, & although the suitable day may not suit everybody, we should get a trip on one of the "choice days". I propose to give this a try for a couple of months & see how it goes. On any other day, that is not entered on the calendar as a "choice day" Mumbles Belle can be booked as normal, but because the tides will be unfavourable then we will be restricted to fishing in Swansea Bay, which could well hone our angling skills, as well as try our patience. We will give these proposals a couple of months to evaluate them, by which time the whiting & codling & dabs should be about in numbers, then Mumbles Belle should be perfect for frequent jumbo whiting trips to the Green Grounds.
