I'm not a gambling man" These were my son's words when I showed him the boat engine, "but I would have a good punt that your problem is not a leaking sump gasket, because you dont have a sump!" Felt a bit of a numpty to be told that, but we do have some leaking bolts & the water pump gasket is leaking, no doubt he will find other oil leaks once he has power washed it. I didn't realise how shallow the sump is, the distance between the sump plate & the "fill" mark on the dipstick, is only about 30mm so the engine relies a lot on the water system to keep it cool. Plenty of help today Phil Gavey, Richie Pearce, Allan Walters, George Brincatt, Peter James, Phill Carroll all pitched in & we needed them all in the end to wrestle the hefty little sod into my Fourtrack. I put Trevor Mellard & Steve Brynant, off otherwise we would have had a bigger crowd than the Swans as it was it was a big lump to wrestle into the van but we got it eventually. My son is going to do it "between jobs" to keep the price down that will give me time to clean out the bilge, it looks like the "Black Lagoon" at present & somebody actually found a twndish in the bilge (which I don't remember losing?) Anyway thanks to all those who helped your help was much appreciated, but don't forget there is painting to be done & the engine has to go back in when its finished, so don't go on holidays yet! lol Skipper Vic
