Failed again! Tried to get the diesel through all morning, but the hand lift pump is about as much use as a glass eye! The batteries are not good enough to spin the engine over long enough, or fast enough to get it to the injectors. One of the batteries has "weak" written on it from the last drop test about 5 years ago. I have charged them up but unless everything is "on the ball" she wont start. It appears that the marina have a mobile starting system on a trolley I think that has to be the way forward until we get a decision on new batteries.

From Lee Smith Can you rig a hand primer to suck the fuel through the pump?
From Victor Lilygreen Don't know how I would do that Lee?
From Lee Smith I’m not sure what type of injection pump is on it but usually follow the fuel line that goes in to the pump then look for the pipe that comes out. Need to suck from there with the ignition on. That should pull the fuel through the filter and the pump and get rid of the air
From Victor Lilygreen I will take some photos tomorrow so you have an idea, its a complicated fuel system because of what it was, a life boat. I would hang a 5ltr can on the door & gravity feed it to the filter
