Victor Lilygreen: I never pulled my weight on the fishing side or the crewing side. I did check that Will had set the anchor properly, & gave some "advice" on roping in the locks, apart from that I sat quietly on my tackle box & watched the others catch the fish . It was like a summers day & the sea was flat, a good day for a comeback. Allan needed no help from me he just needs to shout at the crew a bit louder.
Nigel Ellerton: You don't need to shout to get your point over - good to see you back on the water soldier
Wendy Lilygreen: I bet they were just glad to see you x
Keith James: Yes we were. Nice to see you Vic. Welcome back to the Belle.

A good day out on the Belle on Tuesday. Vic was back on board after his Illness, weather was superb, considering we are in January. No codling caught but plenty of good size dabs and a few whiting for the pan. Vic catching whiting in 2014

Wendy Lilygreen: Awww sorry to hear this lovely boy. Hope your new specs do the trick.
Victor Lilygreen: Shit seems to be stacked against me Wendy, I was sure my vision was exactly the same as before, so I may have been driving around with it for years? I will get new glasses & see if they make any difference, because the novelty of giving lifts will soon rub off
Allan Walters: I have got a bus to get you to the marina.
Richard Pearce: No problem with a lift Vic as long as I'm not on holiday lol. Good luck with glasses and tight lines for Tuesday.

Not what I wanted to hear! Went to Singleton today & found out after examination, that I have lost the lower right field of my vision, which means I cant drive until when/if it returns. I have to have another eye test & new glasses, & apparently new glasses will, help to train my vision. I certainly hope so, I don't fancy relying on lifts, & there are no buses to the marina at 0600, lets hope the new glasses whip my lower field of vision into shape, bloody strokes!

Another nice day from Cardiff Bay Yacht Club aboard the Oystercat today; weather and tidal conditions couldn’t have been better; only dampener was Borge me and roger forgetting our frozen baits. Codling feed steadily through the morning, we had 15 or so to 3.5lb before moving to some different grounds where we had a few congers, whiting and dogfish in the afternoon. In all a lovely day on the water! Skipper Dean Gifford

A few hours at the Knab today with Vic , on his first fishing trip since his Illness. Only small Whiting and a small Dab caught but it was good to get Vic fishing again. I think he will have to devise some more cunning plans for our next trip. Allan Walters

Had a few pleasant hours down the Knab. Got rained upon, hailed upon, poured upon, & frozen in between, but after 7+ weeks shut in it was glorious. I caught 3 small whiting & Allan caught a couple of small whiting a little dab. I found out that my Youngs bib & brace isn't waterproof any longer, & I'm not too sure about my UMAX either I think that is only good for dry cold weather, so it looks like my old Fladen Floaty on Tuesday lol. I never used to suffer from cold extremities but I do now, my feet, fingers, & ears were freezing, it must be a result of the blood thinning medication I have been given that causes that, but it's a small price to pay for what they have done for me. I have noticed that after years of idleness none of my flasks work, they all get hot on the outside which means the seals must have gone allowing the hot liquid to escape to the outside, I will have to get a new one as I intend to do more shore fishing than usual in future. Vic Lilygreen Fishing in the RAIN I ache today Saturday 18 January 2020 Seeing as the seats down the Knab were wet, this clever person stood up or leaned againt the railings all afternoon & today I am as stiff as a post. I forget I have spent so much time on my arse & I am paying for it today with stiff legs & a sore back. "You stupid boy Pike" lol Vic.

Weather looking good for today, fingers crossed Boarding: at 09.30 Fishing: for whiting and codling Bait required: lug , squid and mackerel. Skipper: Alan Walters.(07837390996) (Vic will be coming out with me) Crew: Anglers: Will Walker George Brincatt
Vic's got 2 trips planned! Going to fish Knab Rock from the shore on Friday, & then he intend to go out on Mumbles Belle on Tuesday. He's looking forward to both after being stuck in the chair for more than 5 weeks, walking around the street to recover his balance doesn't really cut it. Vic said 'I just have to make sure I am merely a passenger'.

Oystercat Fishing Trip Wednesday 1 January 2020 Skipper Dean Gifford Long range trip to Minehead. Bait taken was black lug, squid and mackerel. Nice day out aboard the Oystercat today. Plenty of congers, Rays, a few whiting, codling and just a few dogs. Everyone had a few fish and weather was kind but the highlight of the day was the curry made by Vicky. Skipper Dean Gifford

Oystercat Fishing Trip. Saturday 28 December 2019 Skipper Dean Gifford Long range trip to Minehead. Bait taken was black lug, squid and mackerel. In preparation for the trip I made turkey curry and Indian snacks. Jayson Pouch Whitehouse wasn’t going so decided to push the boat out... so to speak. Roger Davidge said we should be okay then, bacon rolls for breakfast and curry for dinner. We won't have time to fish. Fish catches were Fairly poor today; we had lots of congers, a few whiting, 1 huss, 1 thornback, a few dogs but only 2 codling. Wind was a lot stronger than expected but it was comfortable enough. The turkey curry was well received though! Skipper Dean Gifford Good day on board today Dean, curry was a bonus. Allan Walters

Not rocket science! To change the sump gaskets on Mumbles Belle. The new wheelhouse is shorter to allow engine lift out (just 4 bolts) & 3 Allen screws to disconnect the prop shaft. Some sticky tape labels to identify the leads of the starter & alternator & lift straight into the waiting vehicle. The work will be supervised by myself & undertaken by Colin Owen & myself (as previously agreed) so there will be little difference except for the bolt undoing. I will want to examine (or have examined) the old skin fittings that contained the original fire fighting equipment & heat exchanger fittings for security,
