Dear Member,
In 2011 the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) did a consultation into the removal of grandfather rights in Welsh waters, the result of this was to be “The removal of the remaining historic access rights within 3-6 nautical miles by April 2013.” – Unfortunately this didn’t come into being; instead a new consultation has been started.
The removal of these historic rights will help to protect our current and future fish stocks; It is important that we all take this opportunity to voice our opinions so that these important changes are finally implemented – every submission will make a difference!
Please take 2 minutes to fill in the form found here: secure.wales.gov.uk/consultations/forms/maximum-length-of-fishing-boats-0-6-nautical-miles/?lang=en
If possible on completion of the questionnaire please reply to this email so we know not to message again before the end of the consultation, also this will give us an idea of the number of participants. I will also keep you posted on any new news relating to this consultation.
Feel free to distribute this to anyone you feel would be interested in participating, or would have a view on this topic.
